100" projection screen with Definitive Technology speakers: Multi-purpose media room in Del Mar

You know what is very cool? A dedicated home theater. It's a great place for the family to get together to watch movies, sports and to enjoy each others company. Did you know that you don't need to have a specific, dedicated media room to do this? Many of our home theater set-ups look like the above...these are multi-purpose rooms that families utilize all day long for activities other than theater viewing. Here are some of the basics:

1) Go with a bright projector or have a separate TV for day-time viewing: If there is a fair amount of ambient light in the room, most projectors will dim considerably. If the room has some background light, it is important to either choose a bright projector, to go with a screen that reflects more light (Screen Innovations is such a company) or to have a separate TV for day-time viewing. Many of our theater set-ups have a motorized screen. This allows for the screen to drop over a wall-mounted TV for night-time viewing. Use the brighter wall-mounted TV during the day and the bigger, badder theater set-up at night!

2) Control ambient light with curtains, shades, etc. This is important for an impressive picture that has great contrast and colors. Less background light = a better picture.

3) Go BIG: I've been doing this for 22 years and I literally have never had a client say that the TV or projection screen is too large. It's a good idea to tape off the wall becforehand to get an idea of what the screen will look like. Leave the tape on the wall for a week or so to help make it tangible.

There are MANY other factors to consider such as speaker placement, room acoustics, component location, seating, universal remotes, etc. Fortunately, you have a partner in this. Interested? Let our Home Theater specialists assist. Make an appointment with San Diego's Home Theater Installation company and we can show you how to improve your life with music, movies and home theater.
