Reboot cable box

How to fix your cable box and more...see below

Labor Day...YAY!!!! Sticky, hot weather with winds...BOOOOO!!! Did you know that upcoming weather like this causes havoc with your technology? These weather events often create problems with your cable box, Internet access and all things technology. Below are some tips to try if you have these types of issues while this weather is in town.

Cable Box or TV

If you experience:

1) Picture and no sound
2) Sound and no picture
3) Frozen or jagged picture
4) Your channel up/down or GUIDE doesn't work

All you need to do is to:

1) Unplug the cable box from the AC outlet or from the back of the cable box, whichever is easier.

2) Wait 20 seconds and then plug it back in.

3) Wait a 5-10 minutes for the box to reboot. Make sure that the box is turned on and then try using the TV again.

Your problems should be solved!

Computer or iPads/tablets

If you experience:

1) No Internet service on your computer or wired/wireless devices that are connected to the network.

All you need to do is:

1) Unplug your modem and router from the AC outlets.

2) Plug your modem back into the AC outlet and wait until it comes back on (you will typically see solid lights across the front of it...give it 2-3 minutes).

3) Plug your router back into the AC outlet and wait until it comes back on (you will typically see solid lights across the front of it...give it 2-3 minutes).

4) Attempt using the Internet again. If you still can't connect, repeat steps 1-3.

5) If you still can't connect, call your Internet provider (typically ATT, Cox or Time Warner) and ask if there are any outages in your area.

Streaming Devices providing Netflix, Amazon, etc. NOTE: This may be an AppleTV, Roku or the TV itself

If you experience:

1) Picture and no sound
2) Sound and no picture
3) Frozen or jagged picture
4) Your apps won't load

All you need to do is to:

1) Unplug the offending device from the power. Make sure you pull out the power plug and not any other cables.

2) Wait 20 seconds and then plug it back in.

3) Once it reboots, try the app or device again.

Your problems should be solved!
