"Hi friends...We just got a new toy for Christmas from our partners at URC (Universal Remote Control). It's called the MX-780i and I'm going to explain why it might become your best buddy.
 
We get a lot of calls from people wondering why their remote controls don't control all of their components or prompt them to push a HELP button. If you have what we call a "PC-Programmable" remote and a smart programmer, this will never be an issue for you. Unfortunately, "PC-Programmable" remotes typically start at about $500.00 before programming and other add-ons so the cost for controlling a system might be higher than some would like. This is where there MX-780i might catch your eye.
 
At a price of $299.00, the MX-780i is the most affordable remote that we carry with PC-programming. What is PC-programming you ask? In a nutshell, PC-programming allows for:
 
1) Reliable programming: If you want your system to go on and off EVERY TIME, a PC-programmable remote is the only reliable solution. The remotes that you buy at big-box retailers or that rhyme with "Smarmony" CAN'T provide this.
 
2) Future back-up and upgradeability: Dog eat your remote? Did you drop your remote on your concrete floor and the remote lost? Remote swimming in the jacuzzi unsuccessfully? No problem. A PC-programmable remote allows us to take your previously programmed file and zap it over to a new remote instantly without you having to pay for hours of additional programming fees.
 
3) The "Help I'm having a party and can't get sound outside" syndrome: PC-programming allows us to view a virtual copy of your remote even when off-site. Audio/video troubleshooting | Cable box problems?

 
 
 
 
 
Any time we get rain, winds or other weather phenomena in San Diego, cable boxes all over town go haywire. No need to get bent out of shape as we've got the fix. If your TV exhibits the following behavior: 
 
 
 
1) You have picture but no sound or sound with no picture.
2) Your GUIDE stops working.
3) Your channel up/down don't work.
4) The cable box shows half an information bar at the bottom of the screen instead of a full one. 
 
 
 
Here is the fix. Simply UNPLUG your cable box from the power, wait about 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Once it reboots, you should have your TV back! As you are looking at the cable box the power plug is the plug on the left side of the box about 1.5" away from the edge.
 
 
 
Keep in mind that these problems typically happen around weather events so when a storm is coming in (like right now), keep this information in mind.
