Certain things in life are nice to see. It's nice to see your wife catch a 6 pound, 8 ounce trout. It's also nice to see when certain manufacturers go above and beyond the call of duty to take care of our clients. Here's two examples from this week.

It was nice to see one of our valued partners, Niles Audio, really raise the bar in customer service for our clients Danny and Lynn. When the speakers that they purchased weren't in stock due to a shortage at the factory, Niles offered their step-up models that cost 50% more AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. You sure don't see this type of behavior from companies anymore.

It was also refreshing to see what Bose did for our client Liz when her remote failed after 7 years. Bose replaced it literally AT NO COST. Did we mention that the remote went out of warranty 6 years ago? What a fantastic way to treat your clients.

At Aire Theater Designs, there is a reason that we only sell certain product lines. We know that our audio/video partners treat our clients well and will do things that are outside the norm to address your potential customer service needs. If you choose a good product company (ex: in these cases, Bose and Niles) and then a good company to support any needs that may come up (in this case, us), we're confident that you will be happy with your new investment for years to come. Try Aire Theater Designs today to experience what we can do for you!

Sunfire has come to San Diego!

We are typically hesitant to bring on new product lines as we want to make sure that any equipment we offer to our clients sounds great, is reliable and represents great value. Ladies and gentlemen...we have found another partner. We'd like to introduce SUNFIRE to you.

Sunfire is what happens when you mix equal parts of a 190 I.Q., a physicist and a guy who loves music. The end result of this cocktail is Bob Carver, an audio genius that has created amplifiers and speakers that offer world-class performance at a fraction of the price of competitors' offerings (see write-up on Wikipedia for his audio challenge in the 1980s where he created similar sound to amplifiers that were considered the world's best at 1/40th of the price). Bob's creation of the Sunfire company has allowed us to experience these products for ourselves.

Aire Theater Designs wil be carrying Sunfire's subwoofers, speakers and amplifiers. A break-down on some of these products follows:

True Subwoofers

Use these subwoofers where you want the best theater experience possible. This line offers incredible performance that will transform your Living Room into a dedicated home theater. These are one-of-a-kind subwoofers. These encompass the TSEQ12, TSEQ10, TSEQS12, TSEQS10 and TSSJ.

These models are priced from from $1000-$2500. P.S. Check out the TSSJ if you want fantastic bass out of a 9" cube!

HRS Product Line

Subwoofers: This series focuses on providing an amazing movie experience without the need for giant speakers all over the room. These speakers and subwoofers offer BIG performance in a little package.

These encompass the HRS12, HRS10 and HRS8. These models are priced from $850-1050.

Speakers: These offer features like ring-radiating tweeters, high-back EMF woofers and sealed enclosures. What's all this nonsense mean? It means that these speakers sound amazing and that the only nonsense here is the fact that these high-end designs shouldn't cost so little.

These encompass the HRS-SAT4, HRS-SAT4C, HRS-SAT4BIP. These models are priced from $475-650 each.

Amplifiers

The difference in performance by adding an amplifier to your system is stellar. Your speakers instantly sound fuller and more dynamic. There is a sonic crispness that makes it sound like you just upgraded your speakers in a BIG way. These Theater Grand amplifiers offer the most power in their class (up to 2800 watts!) and will give you unrivaled sound. Don't invite your friends over unless you want to see them leave your house with sad looks on their faces as they go home to their inferior systems.

These encompass the  TGA-7401 and TGA-7201. These models are priced from $2500-3500.

Your problem:

a) You've just moved into a new house that has speakers in all of the rooms and you are wondering how to get music to them easily with a system that isn't complicated.

b) You have an existing home with speaker pairs on upper and lower stories and you are tired of going upstairs/downstairs to change sources or volume levels.

Your answer:

a) SONOS and an iPad!

What this system offers is:

a) Instant access to many of your favorite music sources including iTunes, Pandora Internet Radio, Rhapsody, Sirius XM, local AM/FM (with no static), iHeartRadio and many more!

b) Two-way graphic feedback from any of these music sources: This allows you to choose whatever music you want from anywhere in the house and to see what you are choosing on the iPad with cover art, song titles, etc.

c) Independent volume control for all areas: Depending on the configuration you choose, you can control all areas of music independently right from your iPad or iPhone. Great for outdoor speakers or large homes!

d) More money in your pocket! Systems that offer this type of experience sold for up to 5 figures just two years ago. You can now get this convenience starting at $400/room plus installation.

Music enhances our lives, improves productivity and provides great atmosphere for entertaining. If you'd like to find a new way to enjoy music, give us a call and we'll demo the system for you at our San Diego office. We think that after you see Sonos in action, you'll join us as fans of this great new technology. You can read more about Sonos at their site at:

Hello all!  This is Danny again here to tell you about another line of product that we here at Aire Theater Designs are thrilled about.  That product is........drum-roll please...... Definitive Technology Supercube subwoofer series! Supercube...able to destroy tall buildings with a single note! This series is tremendous, not only for its affordability, sound quality, and power, but for its convenient small size. You typically need a subwoofer the size of a Buick to get great bass. With Supercube, you get fantastic bass out of a box the size of a gallon of milk. Read on for details about 3 awesome subwoofers in the SuperCube line.

The smallest of the 3 is the SuperCube 2000 which incorporates a single 7 ½ inch driver pressure-coupled to (2) 7 ½ inch ultra low bass radiators and is fitted w/ a 650 Watt Class D amplifier. This is all housed in a tiny 10 ¼" W x 10 7/8" D x 10 ¾" H package. What's this mean to you? This means that you will get great bass for music and movies in small-to-medium sized rooms with a small box that can be hidden in many areas (ex: closet, cabinet, behind a plant, etc.).

In the middle of the pack you have the SuperCube 4000 which incorporates a single 8 inch driver pressure-coupled to (2) 8 inch ultra-low bass radiators and is fitted w/ a 1200 Watt digital tracking power amplifier.  Its footprint is: 11 7/8" W x 11" D x 12" H. What's this mean to you? This means that you will get great bass for music and movies in medium-sized rooms. This model is also very musical so it will enhance your music listening experience without sounding boomy or distorted.

The big boy of the smaller SuperCube subwoofers is the SuperCube 6000.  It has a single 9 inch driver pressure-coupled to (2) 10 inch ultra low bass radiators and is fitted w/ an unbelievable 1500 Watt digital tracking power amplifier! Its footprint is:  12 7/8" W x 12" D x 13" H. What's this mean to you? Crazy bass in medium-to-large sized rooms. This model will give you the feeling of having a Tyrannosaur in your Living Room when you're watching Jurassic Park. If you already have a pet Tyrannosaur it will sound like you have two.

These subwoofers don't only provide ground-shaking explosions...they also complement your music. You will experience your music in a totally different way if you've never had a subwoofer. You will literally hear notes in your favorite songs that you've never heard before! We are so thrilled with these beasts that the majority of our Aire Theater team sprung for SuperCube 6000s in our own personal systems at home!  Definitive Technology really came through for all of us with the incredibly tight, accurate, clean sounding and powerful SuperCube subwoofer line!  No matter which you choose; SuperCube 2000, SuperCube 4000, or SuperCube 6000, you are in for a treat!

P.S. If you really need a whomper of a subwoofer or are building a dedicated theater, ask us about the 185 pound SuperCube Trinity. It's not small, cheap or quiet. Here's a blurb from one review: "The most articulate and dramatically energetic sub that I have auditioned… there is more to this sub than brawn…The Trinity Subwoofer has a rare agility that transcends its massive shape…the Definitive Trinity would be considered a killer at double its price…this subwoofer is a steal."

“When I drink beer I drink Dos Equis and when I enjoy music it’s with a Yamaha Aventage receiver at the helm. The reasons are simple… While music has been around for centuries, the ability to record and play back my favorite songs has been around for a little over 100 years. Yamaha has been doing music for nearly as long with the production of musical instruments, recording equipment and reproduction and playback equipment. With such a rich intertwining of musical abilities, it was only natural to integrate Yamaha Aventage in my new A/V system.”

              - Most Interesting Man In The World

The Aventage line of receivers that Yamaha released a couple years ago took advantage of the cheapening audio market. While a lot of manufacturers have been focusing on delivering more features at a cheaper price (race to the bottom approach), Yamaha let their design engineers have a three year free-for-all with the development of the Aventage line. The instructions were simple; Make our products sound better than anyone else at a similar price point.

In order to achieve this objective, engineers were given the latitude to swap internal amplifier parts, circuits, power supplies, fuses, capacitors, etc. until they found what they believed was a sonically better piece of audio machinery. The results were achieved with minimal cost impact and maximum performance enhancements. Some things they implemented were simple, like the now famous Fifth Foot. Believe it or not, this seemingly silly addition reduced vibration in the chassis of the receivers enough so that even NON-audiophiles could hear an improvement in sound quality!

Other behind-the-scenes improvements included using those best of class processors, capacitors and circuits throughout the build of each Aventage receiver. Optimized amplifier layout and high quality DACs contribute to sonic excellence as well. Advanced third party control options and heartier construction were also priorities to deliver greater flexibility and improve sound quality further. To top it all off, Yamaha backs the Aventage line with an uncommon 3 year manufacturer’s warranty. You may ask yourself, what does this mean to me? Well, the answer is simple; Aventage receivers provide better build quality, better sound and a great value at the same price as the competition.

"Hey all! How long have you had your current audio/video receiver? If it a year or longer you are probably behind the times. No need to be sooooooooooooo 2010. Here is why you need a new receiver.

A Blu-Ray player...many of you have one now. In addition to the amazing picture that you see now it also can provide the best format of audio available. These formats are called Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. Without getting into too much technology these formats provide sound that is just like you hear in the theater. It provides less distortion and has greater clarity than anything that we've ever heard before from home systems (it is a bit-for-bit copy of the master studio mixes for my fellow geeks). The catch is that you have to have a receiver that supports these formats in order to achieve this acoustic alchemy at home.

If you are into movies and would like to get the best sound possible, see my friends at ATD and have 'em hook you up."

P.S. Update as of 01/17/2019. If you are interested in Dolby Atmos, the newest and most immersive sound format EVER, you're in the right place. Let us show you our Dolby Atmos home theater set-up!
