A few things to know:
- The Sonos Era 300 really has a specific purpose. It is meant to provide height and diffuse sound for video content, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio.
- The Era 300 sells for $449.00 each (pair is $898.00). They come in black or white and have speaker stands that will be available in a few months for $300.00/pair.
- The Sonos Era has 4 tweeters that point up, left, right and forward. It has 2 midrange drivers that point outward.
- The Sonos Five has 3 tweeters that fire forward and 3 larger mid-woofers that also point forward.
- The configuration of the Sonos Five and size of the drivers make it a better option for stand-alone stereo listening. It sounds clearer, has better bass and more mid-range punch.
- Use the Sonos Era 300 with the Sonos Beam and Sonos Arc. Both these soundbar options have Dolby Atmos and this is where the Era 300 speakers shine.

The conclusion is that the Sonos Era 300 should be purchased as a video or spatial audio solution and not as an audio-only stereo pair.
