Eero vs Google WiFi - Whar's the best mesh WiFi?

When it comes to good WiFi...you ain't got time to mess around! The Google Mesh WiFi product has gotten very popular lately buuuuuuuuuuuuut...we don't recommend it. As this just came up 30 seconds ago at one of our clients' homes, here's another reason to pass on Google WiFi and to go with Eero mesh systems...the pioneer in the WiFi mesh category.

"My solar monitor won't connect!"

"My WiFi printer isn't working!"

"My Shark vacuum won't connect to WiFi!"

"My smart lighting system won't connect to WiFi!"

These all are utterances that we've heard lately from Google Mesh customers. The problem is in the way that their (and many mesh products) propagate WiFi. Their systems spit out 2 networks simultaneously...2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The related and BIG problem is that many devices including solar panels (they are a chief offender), wireless printers, smart lighting systems and others only connect initially to 2.4Ghz. Once you connect them to the network, they then operate. However, as Google doesn't have a way to turn the 5Ghz network off, in many cases you can't ever get the equipment to connect.

Google's solution is literally to run out of the house and to get far away enough so your 5Ghz doesn't work any more and so your set-up device only sees 2.4Ghz. This is not a joke. Unless you are Stretch Armstrong and have a 96' arm that you can then push the button on the product so it can see the network...good luck.

Eero's solution...you can turn off 5Ghz! See in our video below at 9:00.
