“When I drink beer I drink Dos Equis and when I enjoy music it’s with a Yamaha Aventage receiver at the helm. The reasons are simple… While music has been around for centuries, the ability to record and play back my favorite songs has been around for a little over 100 years. Yamaha has been doing music for nearly as long with the production of musical instruments, recording equipment and reproduction and playback equipment. With such a rich intertwining of musical abilities, it was only natural to integrate Yamaha Aventage in my new A/V system.”

The Aventage line of receivers that Yamaha released a couple years ago took advantage of the cheapening audio market. While a lot of manufacturers have been focusing on delivering more features at a cheaper price (race to the bottom approach), Yamaha let their design engineers have a three year free-for-all with the development of the Aventage line. The instructions were simple; Make our products sound better than anyone else at a similar price point.

In order to achieve this objective, engineers were given the latitude to swap internal amplifier parts, circuits, power supplies, fuses, capacitors, etc. until they found what they believed was a sonically better piece of audio machinery. The results were achieved with minimal cost impact and maximum performance enhancements. Some things they implemented were simple, like the now famous Fifth Foot. Believe it or not, this seemingly silly addition reduced vibration in the chassis of the receivers enough so that even NON-audiophiles could hear an improvement in sound quality!

Other behind-the-scenes improvements included using those best of class processors, capacitors and circuits throughout the build of each Aventage receiver. Optimized amplifier layout and high quality DACs contribute to sonic excellence as well. Advanced third party control options and heartier construction were also priorities to deliver greater flexibility and improve sound quality further. To top it all off, Yamaha backs the Aventage line with an uncommon 3 year manufacturer’s warranty. You may ask yourself, what does this mean to me? Well, the answer is simple; Aventage receivers provide better build quality, better sound and a great value at the same price as the competition.
